Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. The law (HIPPA) protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission. In some cases, you may want or need to disclose information to a third party such as your physician or employer. In these cases, you will need to authorize Southfield Therapy to release appropriate  information. Click here for that form. 

• Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse.  I am required by law to report this information to the appropriate authorities immediately.
• Threats of violence such as bodily harm towards another person(s), I must notify the police and also inform the intended victim.
• Intent or serious threat of harm to oneself. I will make every effort to enlist client cooperation to ensure one's safety as well as retain their privacy. However, without client cooperation, I may need to take additional measures (that do not require written permission) that are provided to Southfield Therapy by law, in order to ensure their safety.
