About Me: My name is David (he/him), and I'm a certified counselor/psychotherapist. I'm here to help everyday people improve the quality of their lives by strengthening their mental well-being. I believe we need to care for ourselves first, before we can be at our best for work, school, or when we are simply interacting with our friends and families. Both of my parents were public school teachers, and while they certainly valued education, they also raised me to understand myself and supported my goal to help others in serving my community.
Originally, I became a Social Worker to help children and families stay together, spending years working with diverse families, situations, and outcomes. This taught me how to look at all sides, consider each perspective, and to really understand what people are saying.
For the past several years, I've been working one-on-one with all combinations of families, as well as the individual. I believe we all deserve a happy life and if you or someone you love are struggling to cope with life, family, or personal issues, please reach out. At Southfield Therapy, change is coming.

By providing a supportive, safe, and confidential environment at Southfield Therapy, we can discuss negative feelings and/or difficult issues, we can explore new or enhance current strategies of coping with what's happened, and find a way forward in ways that are healthier and more productive.
Understanding your feelings will help identify options (that WORK) to better manage family relationships, personal barriers (such as depression, anger, anxiety, abandonment, and many others), LGBTQ issues, and workplace complications, just to name a few.
Not all strategies work for all people, and by getting to know more about you, we can present potential solutions and strategies that are tailored to your personality, lifestyle, or family situation.
It's your life, and you deserve happiness.
One of your goals may be to increase your ability to move forward and replace self-limiting behaviors with a positive action plan. We can work to develop healthier coping skills to utilize whenever new disappointments and road blocks appear. It's completely understandable that admitting you need support or guidance while you identify issues and make necessary changes in your life can be very scary and overwhelming. This feeling is temporary, and many individuals feel relief from this fear after the first appointment.
As mentioned, we have a supportive, safe, and confidential environment, and it's my job to help you decide what changes you'd like to make, how best to go about making them, and help increase your motivation and confidence in order to move ahead. And so, it's a temporary construction zone, with beautiful, fresh new perspectives to come.
Utilizing proven solution focused, cognitive, behavioral, and play therapies, there are reliable techniques to help you reach your maximum potential, cope with daily emotional pressures, elevate self-esteem and overcome self-defeating behavior in any age group.
